Ooooooh Week
The Sydney University O-Week activation brought Afterpay directly to students in a highly interactive and visually dynamic way. The space served as a hub for live engagement, combining music, live recordings, and social interaction to immerse attendees in the brand experience.
The design incorporated vibrant Bondi Mint branding, accentuated by greenery and clean LED lighting to create a fresh and modern environment. The interior was optimised for both performance and interaction, allowing students to experience DJ sets, engage with podcasting content, and explore the space freely.
The combination of a striking visual identity, functional layout, and high-quality audio and lighting made the activation both memorable and practical. By seamlessly blending entertainment with brand storytelling, Afterpay’s presence stood out on campus, encouraging interaction, driving engagement, and leaving a lasting impression on students throughout O-Week.
what the client needed
Afterpay aimed to make a bold, high-energy impression at Sydney University’s O-Week, creating a space that would engage students while reflecting the brand’s playful and approachable identity. The activation needed to accommodate live podcasting and DJ performances, offering a dynamic setting that could capture attention across the campus and encourage interaction. It was important for the space to feel immersive, fun, and visually striking, drawing students in while providing flexible functionality for tech setups and talent performances. The design also had to support high-quality content capture, ensuring the activation delivered impact both in person and across Afterpay’s digital channels.
Vibe Central
We recognised an opportunity to create a space that was both visually striking and highly functional, combining Afterpay’s vibrant branding with practical design. By using a custom-built activation box, we were able to produce a compact yet impactful hub that could accommodate DJ sets, live podcast recordings, and interactive experiences for students. The layout was carefully planned to maximise floor space, maintain clear sightlines, and allow smooth movement for both performers and visitors.
Lighting was designed to highlight the brand’s signature Bondi Mint colour while enhancing visibility and atmosphere for live performances. Acoustics were optimised to ensure DJ sets and podcasts sounded professional and clear, creating a high-quality audio experience for in-person attendees and digital audiences alike. Every detail—from the placement of equipment to the integration of greenery and LED accents—was considered to create a cohesive, engaging, and memorable environment that reflected Afterpay’s playful energy while delivering practical functionality for student engagement.
HOW WE ACTIVATED
The activation box was fully wrapped in Afterpay’s signature Bondi Mint, creating an instantly recognisable and visually striking presence on campus. LED edge lighting added vibrancy and energy, while carefully placed greenery softened the space and introduced a fresh, contemporary feel. DJ Tigerlily took centre stage behind a fully branded DJ booth, bringing live music that attracted students from across the venue and created a high energy atmosphere.
Inside the box, the layout was designed to accommodate podcasting equipment, cameras, and other tech requirements, providing flexibility for live recordings, social content creation, and interactive student engagement. Every element of the design from sightlines and lighting to acoustics was carefully considered to ensure optimal audio quality and visual impact. The combination of entertainment, immersive branding, and functional design created a space that encouraged participation, drove foot traffic, and amplified Afterpay’s playful identity. This activation offered a memorable and fully engaging experience for students both in person and online.
