The activation brought the concept to life with a bakery-inspired setup, featuring ambassadors handing out mint lamingtons through a charming window. Plinths and a counter displayed the lamingtons in their packaging, adding structure, accessibility, and visual appeal while creating a cohesive and playful presentation.

The interactive design encouraged passersby to stop, engage, and capture the moment, making the experience both fun and memorable. By combining tactile elements with eye-catching visuals, the activation successfully drew crowds, sparked curiosity, and left a sweet, lasting impression of Afterpay.

What the client needed

Afterpay wanted a bakery style pop-up that was eye-catching, memorable, and aligned with their brand. The goal was to create a fun and inviting setup that attracted attention while showcasing Afterpay’s presence in an unexpected way. By using a bakery theme, the activation needed to feel approachable and engaging, drawing people in with the promise of sweet treats while tying the experience back to Afterpay’s core offering. The setup also needed to be functional, easy to navigate, and provide opportunities for guests to interact, take photos, and connect the positive experience directly with the Afterpay brand.

We wanted to create a playful and interactive activation that would immediately capture the attention of passersby and encourage them to participate. The concept needed to feel lighthearted, fun, and approachable, with a bakery inspired design that looked inviting while sparking curiosity.

The setup was designed to encourage engagement, from taking photos to sharing the moment on social media, making the experience memorable and visually appealing. By integrating interactive elements, we aimed to draw in foot traffic and create a sense of excitement around the giveaway.

Attention was paid to balancing creativity with functionality, ensuring the space was both Instagrammable and practical for handing out the lamingtons. The vibrant mint-coloured design and playful bakery aesthetic helped communicate the activation’s cheerful personality, while the layout guided visitors naturally through the experience.

Afterpay partnered with David Jones and Tokyo Lamington to bring a playful, bakery inspired activation to life. Customers were invited to show their Afterpay app to receive a free lamington, creating a simple and rewarding interaction that drove engagement.

The activation was styled like a bakery, complete with a service window where brand ambassadors handed lamingtons directly to customers. This added theatre, charm, and a memorable sense of fun. To complement the setup, plinths were placed to the side showcasing the lamingtons and their packaging, adding a premium touch while drawing attention to the product itself.

The star of the activation was a limited-edition mint lamington, coated in coconut and coloured in a fresh mint green. Positioned in a high-foot-traffic location, the activation captured attention, encouraged participation, and created buzz. By blending playful food theatre with product display, Afterpay left a lasting minty impression.
